Potluck for Work: Chicken & Noodles

I’m bringing chicken & noodles for potluck tomorrow.  I don’t want to do it early in the morning like last time, so I got a headstart today.  I have decided to bring the same chicken & noodles, but with a different style.  I am doing a step-by-step because I got asked too many times on how I did it last time.

1) I took golden noodles and soaked the noodles in water.  This gets some water absorption to help with the cooking.

2) I got bean sprouts, chopped green onions, and grated carrots.  If you can’t do this, then you should just go out and eat.

3) I added fried some tofu.  Just cut up the tofu, toss them in cooking oil, and wait for the tofu to turn golden.  Cooking tofu is like cooking french fries.  It’s up to your preference on how well cooked you want the tofu.  If you overcook it, it will be a little chewy.

4) I also go the other main ingredient: shredded, cooked chicken.  You can get cooked chicken at Costco.  You take it home and simply just start peeling the chicken meat.  There is not art to this.  Just do it how you want it.

5) I boiled the golden noodles.  You do not want to boil the noodles too long because then they will start falling apart.  You just want to leave them in a for a little bit to get cooked and then drain them.

6) Lastly, I mixed all the ingredients together in a wok.  Just heat the wok up and mix all of the ingredients.  This is to simply heat the products together.  The cooking was done in all the previous steps.

This was not very hard to make.  It just takes time.

View from John Hancock Observatory

The John Hancock building in Chicago charges $15 to go to the observatory on the 94th floor.  You get a nice view when you’re up there.

How do Poolmen work in Skyscrapers?

I know poolmen in suburbs drive around in their pickup trucks to houses and clean pools.  How do they do in the big city?  How much do they charge per month?

Thanks CVS for being open 24hours

Thanks CVS/pharmacy for being open 24 hours.  I was able to buy all the things I needed, mainly bottled water & gummy bears.  Chicago charges a $.05 tax on that stuff.  Illinois doesn’t charge anything.  Chicago doesn’t event let you redeem the bottle to get your money back like in California.  24 pack bottled water ended up costing an extra $1.20.  This is on top of the 11.25% sales tax!

Obama for President 2008

Obama 2008 presidential posters were all over Chicago.  I wonder who cleans up afterwards.  Chicago is into sustainability and all.
